Jesus is Our Center

While we believe in the Trinity (God eternally existing in three persons – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit), Jesus is our center. In other words, when we think about the nature and character of God, when we think about what God is up to in our world… we ought to focus on Jesus Christ. Our conviction is that Jesus is the perfect revelation of God’s true nature – a God that is good. A God that is love. Moreover, it’s our conviction that Jesus’ death on the Cross expresses the focal point of these truths. Therefore, all of our thinking about God, as well as all of our reading of Scripture, is best done through the lens of Jesus.

The Bible is Our Book

The sole basis of our belief is the Bible. We believe the Bible (both the Old and New Testaments) is the Word of God, written by men who were inspired by the Holy Spirit to write down exactly what God wanted to communicate to us. The Bible is the unique, full, and final authority on all matters of faith and practice and there are no other writings similarly inspired by God. We value the Bible not just as a record of God’s involvement “back then” but as a holy gift that speaks to us today.

The Gospel is Our Message

“Gospel” is a Greek word that appears almost 100 times in the New Testament and it means, literally, “good news.” It is the good news of the Kingdom of God, that the future reign of God is breaking into the present through the life and ministry of Jesus our King. The Gospel is “Good News” that death is not the end. The Gospel is “Good News” that we are set free from the slavery of sin. The Gospel is “Good News” that the devil has been defeated. The Gospel is “Good News” that God still heals today. The Gospel is “Good News” that we have peace with God. The Gospel is “Good News” that our lives have a purpose.

Love is Our Aim

If our church had to be summed up by just one Bible verse, it would be Galatians 5:6: “The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love.” Everything we do is rooted and grounded in our faith and belief in Jesus Christ. And God calls us to express that faith through showing God’s love in practical ways to a hurting and broken world.
